The Chinese New Year is coming. It begins on February 3rd to be exact. I love the opportunity to celebrate any holiday. I particularly enjoy ones with awesome decorations and killer food. This holiday definitely falls into that category.
I made some scarves to celebrate. You can find them here:
One of my peers included me in a treasury. I alway appreciate that.

I decided I wanted some homemade decorations. I mailed a few children I know drawings of dragons. I asked them to color them in and mail them back to me. When I receive them I will string them up to make garland.
(Not only is this going to result in a great decoration, but it is also a fun way to keep in touch with my family and friends that are far away.)
Last but not least, I have tried some new recipes:
Broiled Orange Ginger Shrimp – O.k. but not out of this world
Lion’s Head Meatballs in Spicy coconut Sauce – Killer! I will definitely be repeating this one during my celebration
Still on my recipe to-do list:
Longevity noodles – Apparently you serve the longest noodles you can find. The oldest person is supposed to be served first. (funny, both key points in this meal seem a bit unsocial by my standards)
Vegetarian’s Delight
New Year’s Rice Cakes – I’m going to have to go rice flour hunting for this one.
I refuse to make my own fortune cookies. (That’s untraditional)
If I have inspired you to celebrate the Chinese New Year also you can check out this website. They have great resources.
I hope to enjoy this Chinese new year with lot of fortune cookies and gifts from my family members and I am waiting for the new year.
